Mount Rinjani

At 3,726 metres high, Mount Rinjani is the second highest volcano in Indonesia, last erupting into life in 2010.  An eruption of Rinjani in 1257 is thought to have been responsible for a disruption to the world’s climate. The cone of Mt. Rinjani is full of water (estimated to be 200 metres deep) and is 2,000 metres above sea level. A high level of fitness is required to visit the crater lake (and takes 2-3 days), though a visit by vehicle to its base is very worthwhile (and much easier) Not that fit or simply don’t want to spend days getting to a place to admire the view?  Try our Northern Lombok Circuit Tour, which takes in the northern and eastern slopes of Mount Rinjani and surrounding agricultural areas of central Lombok without all the hard work!

Volcano Tours & Treks

Indonesia has some of the world’s largest volcanoes, many of which are active at present.  Mount Rinjani, located at the northern end of Lombok dominates the landscape with its imposing form.  The crater of Mount Rinjani contains a lake, complete with fish and a beautiful hot spring which you are able to swim in.  Rinjani is so large, it creates its own weather systems, and is often shrouded in cloud.  We warn you though, trekking to the summit is not for the faint hearted, but the rewards are certainly worth the effort.
